A sober, intelligent, serenely paced supernatural medical drama, Saving Hope revolves around Dr. Alex Reid (Erica Durance, Smallville), the chief surgical resident at Hope Zion Hospital. She and her fiancée, Dr. Charlie Harris (Michael Shanks, Stargate SG-1), the chief of surgery, are about to get married when tragedy strikes on the night of their wedding.
Following a car accident, the groom lapses into a coma, nearly dies and has an extended out-of-body experience. Wandering the corridors of the hospital, he now sees the world through different eyes and has a few revelations. Every bullet has its billet… Dr. Joel Goran (Daniel Gillies, The Glades, True Blood), a brash orthopedic surgeon and Alex Reid’s former lover, left a prestigious position at Sloane Kettering to come to Hope Zion and work with Charlie Harris. Under the circumstances, will Joel help Alex keep the hospital together or will he tip his boom off?
Dr. Alex Reid also works along with Dr. Shahir Hamza (Huse Madhavji, Call Me Fitz, Combat Hospital), a brilliant neurosurgeon, who has difficulties relating to other people, Dr. Maggie Lin (Julia Taylor Ross), a smart but uncertain third year surgical resident on rotation in Hope Zion’s General Surgery department, Dr. Gavin Murphy (Kristopher Turner, Being Erica, The L.A. Complex), an ethical and perceptive psychiatry resident, Dr. Zachary Miller (Benjamin Ayres, Psych, The Vampire Diaries), the compassionate and confident ER doctor, Victor Reis (Salvatore Antonio, Nikita, Lost Girl), an OR male nurse, Dr. Tom Reycraft (K.C. Collins, Blue Murder, Flashpoint), a fourth year surgical resident, who has his eyes on Alex’s position of chief surgical resident, Dr. Melanda Tolliver (Glenda Braganza, The Business, Men with Brooms), an ICU doctor and Alex’s friend, and Dr. Dawn Bell (Michelle Nolden, Ghost Whisperer, Rookie Blue), a cardiologist and Charlie’s ex-wife.
