Bold, funny and refreshing, FX’ sitcom follows the exploits of “The Gang”, a group of self-centered friends who run Paddy’s Pub, a relatively unsuccessful Irish bar in South Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. These guys have a flair for getting themselves into all sorts of wry mischief, but none of it goes anywhere. “The Gang” comprises twins Dennis Reynolds (Glenn Howerton, ER, The Cleveland Show) and Deandra “Sweet Dee” Reynolds (Kaitlin Olson, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Family Guy), their friends Charlie Kelly (Charlie Day, Third Watch, American Dad!) and Ronald “Mac” McDonald (Rob McElhenney, Law & Order, Lost), and Frank Reynolds (Danny DeVito, Friends, The Simpsons), Dennis and Deandra’s legal father.
A narcissistic, selfish, histrionic and vain man, Dennis attended the University of Pennsylvania where he minored in Psychology. He is also a co-owner of Paddy’s Pub. Although she has no apparent talent and occasionally suffers from debilitating stage fright, Sweet Dee dreams of becoming an actress. For the time being, she makes her living as a bartender at Paddy’s Pub. As childhood friends, Charlie and Mac know each other as a person knows his ten fingers. Charlie’s anger management issues, vices, poor hygiene, lack of common sense and a poor grasp of reality keep him from achieving great things in life. Coming from a broken home, Mac constantly tries to demonstrate his toughness. He is a co-owner of Paddy’s Pub and its most active manager. A former businessman with a long history of illegal operations and dealings with sleazy characters, Frank lives from hand to mouth.
