In small towns life has a strange way of working. Everyone knows everyone, people relate to things they share and how they live together. For a town community such as the one in Dillon, Texas there are some things that matter more than others. Friday Late Night is a show about the town’s high school football team.
The coach of the Panthers, Eric Taylor (Kyle Chandler) can be more or less considered the leading character, but that is just because he’s the one taking care of the team. Through each member of the team we get to know more about the town itself; about their relationships, their stories, their families and the changes they go through.
You’d think not much can happen around a team of football players. But it’s actually the sincerity of their lives that makes the TV show feel real, comfortable and close to our common days. It’s not necessarily a story about morality and it’s not about the extraordinary. It’s a story about the things that bring people together. Friday Night matters. It’s the night that the pride and joy of this small town can put them on the map, and show that important results can come out of small communities. There are a lot of characters that fit to the development, and their actors (Connie Britton, Zach Gilford, Taylor Kitsch or Scott Porter) are doing a great job at bringing them to life.
